The evolving landscape

The arrival of COVID-19 hit the Facey Property Management team the hardest with an unprecedented workload managing the needs and distress of our tenants, communicating and navigating the fast-paced evolving landscape for landlords, and themselves relocating and adjusting to isolation.

“We worked with many tenants who submitted Financial Hardship Application Forms – obviously a difficult time for these business owners.” Chad Kendall, Partner & Head of Property Services.

The Victorian Parliament passed the COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Bill 2020 in late April, providing greater clarity for Landlords and Tenants in negotiating fair outcomes for all parties.

“We continue to work with our tenants implementing and managing these outcomes. I am extremely proud of my team. The challenges were immense, and their commitment and resolve were certainly impressive.”

A reminder that the Retail Leases Act is under revision and is in parliament at the moment. While our politicians have many other concerns that they are currently focusing on, we do understand that an amendment to the act is imminent.

We believe that this is going to mean positive changes for both landlords and tenants.
